Foundation Program
Plenty of subject matter experts struggle when promoted into leadership roles. They are technically good at what they do but have little idea how to manage or lead people.
Similarly, many executive teams are exposed when they fail to translate high individual ability into effective team performance.
The 2019 COVID pandemic aggravated these inconvenient facts. Poor working cultures were exposed as flimsy or unsafe.
Lessons were learned. Paying attention to human factors leads to better performance. Better gains are made with a short series of engagements rather than one-off events. And having a shared mental model gives you an enormous competitive advantage.
It created a hunger for brief, high impact programs that make leadership, culture and resilience less vague and mysterious, and more concrete and practical.
The Foundation Program presents the Red-Blue Mental Model for performance under pressure through a mini-series of five online (2-hour) or in-person (half-day) workshops, delivered from weekly to monthly, for your team or extended group.
The Program structure is as follows:
1. Perform Under Pressure: The nature of pressure and our personal reactions to it
2. Culture Under Pressure: How to develop high performance environments
3. Lead Under Pressure: How to lead effectively and use pressure wisely
4. Teams Under Pressure: How to build teams that are ‘pressure-ready’
5. Comms Under Pressure: How to communicate effectively when stressed
The Program starts with an introduction to pressure and your personal reaction to it. This mental framework is then applied to the four performance areas most frequently identified by leaders and managers as their greatest challenge – culture; leadership; teamwork, and communication. The result is a shared mental model.
The Foundation Program can be tailored in both length and content to suit your industry or pressure context.
The Program creates a rapid learning environment for people who don’t want to mess around. Each workshop delivers a specific mental tool designed to overcome a major, real-world challenge, with practical applications that can be absorbed quickly and put to use immediately.
Ceri’s program emphasises tangible and direct methods. His approach is bright but no-nonsense, balancing challenging moments with a light touch.
The Workshops – all led by Ceri – use activity, understanding and personal application to provide a stimulating immersive experience.
They can be flexibly delivered to suit smaller, boardroom-type numbers if the personal connection is preferred, through to groups of 50 or more if getting everyone up to speed efficiently is a priority.
The Foundation Program will suit your team or group if you experience pressure and you are committed to performing mentally, alongside your technical abilities.
The acid-test is whether you have robust, common language for mental performance.
If not, how can you and your team be ‘pressure-ready’?
